What a full HVAC replacement costs
For a conventional central system, a broad planning range is roughly $7,500 to $16,000 before unusually complex ductwork, electrical upgrades, zoning or premium equipment. Large homes and high-cost labor markets can exceed that range.
What should be included in a written quote

- Capacity and efficiency ratings
- Labor and removal of old equipment
- Permit and inspection fees
- Thermostat and controls
- Ductwork or transition modifications
- Electrical, drain and line-set work
- Manufacturer and labor warranty terms
Do not buy on tonnage alone
Replacement equipment should be sized to the house and its heat gain/loss, not simply matched to the old nameplate. Oversizing can cause short cycling, humidity problems and comfort issues. Ask how the contractor determined the required capacity.
